Center of Excellence for Climate Change Research
About Us
The Center of Excellence for Climate Change Research (CECCR) at King Abdulaziz University is a leading institution dedicated to advancing climate change studies and supporting global research efforts in this critical field. Our mission is to analyze climate variations and their potential impacts on Saudi Arabia, developing innovative solutions that serve society and policymakers. Through cutting-edge numerical modeling, climate projections, and data-driven research, we assess the effects of climate change on the environment, water resources, and agriculture. We provide scientific consultation to government and non-government entities and contribute to international climate research. With a commitment to knowledge dissemination, we offer public access to climate data and organize educational initiatives to enhance climate resilience and adaptation strategies.
Our Research
At the Center of Excellence for Climate Change Research, our research is dedicated to understanding and addressing the complex challenges posed by climate change. Our focus spans several key areas, including numerical weather and climate modeling, seasonal and long-term climate forecasting, and analyzing the relationship between atmospheric and oceanic changes. We conduct advanced studies on extreme weather events and their future projections, assess climate change impacts on water resources, agriculture, and ecosystems, and develop adaptation strategies to mitigate risks. Our center also plays a crucial role in building a comprehensive climate database for Saudi Arabia, enabling researchers and policymakers to make informed decisions. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge computational tools, we strive to contribute valuable scientific insights to the global climate research community. In addition, Our research focuses on various aspects of climate change, including:
- Atmospheric Modeling and Prediction
- Impacts of Climate Change on Ecosystems
- Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies
- Climate Policy and Adaptation Strategies
- Atmospheric Climate Dynamics
- Carbon Sequestration and Mitigation
